The inaugural
YCSA “Hawkeye” Pierce Buffalo Championship has now been conducted.
It has been said that the prevailing record of history is defined by
those who report it first. I also stated in my last Buffalo Match report that the winner
would be given the authority to spin whatever tall tale about the event he or
she wanted to tell until the match is held again the following year.
Overcast
skys & the threat of rain may have kept some from staying; others had
previous obligations and one potential entrant decided to test his new Creedmoor
bullet (590+ gr) in his .45-90 on the pig line during the silhouette match and
opted out because he still had tremors from the recoil.
Seven
shooters stayed after the silhouette match to endure the hurricane-force winds,
torrential rainfall, sight picture impairing smoke from volcanic eruptions at
the ram line and the excruciating pain caused by the flesh-eating insects that
burrowed their way out from under the concrete on the firing line (re-read
paragraph one; sentence two & three ) to earn the right to proudly display
the traveling trophy that is awarded to the winner of this event.
Won’t
say anything more, other than those who did not stay missed a REALLY fun match !
Dave
Cook: it’s time for you to add a more objective version of the match report at
this point.
